About the Work

In the case of an action scene involving cattle during a stampede, storyboarding can be difficult. According to storyboard artist, Michael Peal, “It’s almost impossible to predict the movement of a cattle herd and how riders on horseback are going to go through a lot of cattle. You can’t control the details of this type of action the way you can with two men fighting in a room.”

The filming of the stampede took several days and the storyboards helped film editors splice in various shots of the cattle, the reactions of the cowboys, and images of the storm.
